2016 Spring Parade of Homes

Whether you're new to Oak Bluff West or it's been a few years since your last visit, the Spring 2016 Parade of Homes is the perfect opportunity to get a closer look at this growing community.

Presented by the Manitoba Home Builders' Association, the Parade of Homes, running March 5th-26th, is your chance to experience the latest and greatest in home design from Winnipeg's top builders. Whether you're interested in building a new home or simply looking for design inspiration, come take a stroll through 7 fantastic Oak Bluff West show homes.

What's not to love in Oak Bluff West?

A new playground for young kids and new trails allow you to walk your kids to the nearby K-8 school. You can enjoy a full range of activities at the Oak Bluff Rec Centre, which offers seemingly non-stop ice time for hockey and ringette. The community also features a fantastic wetland trails system plus easy access to outdoor motor sports and the town of Oak Bluff.

It's a peaceful place to live, says Glenda Sobie, General Manager of Ventura Homes.

"It's that rural experience with a sense of space," she explains. "There is a lot of undeveloped land surrounding it, so you get a nice country feeling in the community. It's very quiet, but you're still close to all city amenities."

Oak Bluff West is situated by the town of Oak Bluff, a quick 10 minute drive to Kenaston Common and Seasons of Tuxedo, 15 minutes from the MTS IcePlex, and about 25 minutes from downtown Winnipeg.

A Breadth of Home Styles

With its extra-wide lots, large bungalows and open spaces, Oak Bluff West offers plenty of room for families to grow and enjoy, no matter your lifestyle.

Karen Geist-McNeill and her husband moved to the community this past summer from River Heights. While she never thought country living was for her, she quickly fell in love with Oak Bluff West.

"When you get out to Oak Bluff, it's like a breath of fresh air," she explains. "Me and my husband are right on a lake and face west, so we get these beautiful sunsets from our deck. Sitting out there in the fall, the peacefulness is so wonderful, and yet we're just outside the city. It's just a lovely place to sit and relax, where you don't feel the tension of the city and it's not uncommon to see a bald eagle or owl soar by."

Whether you're a young family or empty nester nearing retirement, the community's open air feeling is hard to forget. And while many people are drawn to the oversized lots to build their dream home, Oak Bluff West is also perfect for people looking to downsize.

This spring, Randall Homes is beginning construction on a new nine-unit attached bungalow condo project right in the heart of the subdivision, their second project in the area.

"The first 14 bungalows appealed to people who were downsizing and moving into the area to be close to the grandkids – they get a fantastic home, but don't have to worry about maintenance," explains Jason Jaquet of Randall Homes. "The feedback so far has been excellent; they're enjoying it and taking advantage of all the amenities in the community. This new bungalow condo project will build on the success of the first with an updated 2016 look."

Whether you're looking to upsize to a custom home or downsize to a modern condominium, Oak Bluff West offers the conveniences of city life with unmistakable country charm.
