Throw on your best red and white ensemble and get Canada-proud on this Wednesday July 1st — there's plenty to do around Winnipeg on Canada Day.

At Assiniboine Park, the festivities start at 1:00 p.m. with Picnic in the the Park. Family activities entertain kids until 6:00 p.m. with music, magicians, clowns, face painting and games. Canada Day birthday cake is served at 3:30 p.m. and fireworks will top off the celebrations at 10:40 p.m. Music goes all day and food and refreshment vendors are scattered throughout the park to keep you fuelled to celebrate.

The Forks hosts an all-day party starting at noon and ending at 11:00 p.m. with the usual dazzling fireworks display. All-day family-friendly activities include music, crafts, entertainment and a huge line-up of musicians set to appear under the canopy, in the Forks Market and at the Festival Stage.

Take the family for a day of exploration at Oak Hammock Marsh. Beginning at 12:30 p.m., horse-drawn wagon rides take you through the marsh among the creatures and plant life living in the waters. Don’t miss the Canada Day birthday cupcakes at 2 p.m.

Closer to home, Fort Whyte Alive has activities starting at 10:00 a.m. with guided hikes, bike tours, dipnetting and archery all included with admission.

St. Norbert Farmers’ Market is holding it’s Annual Canada Day Celebration all day starting at 11 am. Kids activities include pony rides, games, and the splashpad will be splashing. A family BBQ starts at noon and birthday cake is served at 6:00 p.m. The party wraps up at dusk with festive fireworks.

Celebrate big or small, it’s nice to have a day off in the middle of the week. Happy Canada Day!
