Father Christmas in the forest
Nov 17, 2014
If you’re looking for some great family activities this holiday season, head down road to Fort Whyte Alive where the kids can meet Santa Claus, make crafts and go tobogganing on one of the city’s best toboggan runs.
“The toboggan slide is one of our biggest draws,” says Jody Watson, Fort Whyte Alive’s Director of Education and Human Resources. “It’s nearly ready this year. Once we get some more cold weather to freeze the lakes, you can come out and try out our slide. It’s one of the most fun things to do at Fort Whyte in the winter.”
Santa Claus is also planning a visit on November 30 and December 7 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bring the kids to get their photo taken with Father Christmas in the Forest (non-members $7, members $5).
“We’re lucky to have Santa visit us at our bird feeding station with some carolers,” says Watson. “You don’t have to stand and wait your turn in the cold though. You can take a number, hang out in our café or interpretive centre, make a craft or go sliding while you wait your turn for Santa.”
There are always new events and activities going on at Fort Whyte Alive. Be sure to check their website regularly for news and information – www.fortwhyte.org. Fort Whyte Alive is on McCreary Road, just north of McGillivray Road, west of Route 90.
